just got my first "real bike"
I just bought a Trek 7.5 fx yesterday. got a great deal on an '07. I started commuting on my x-mart full suspension mountain bike. it died recently--yeah!!!...now I can actually ride on 700c wheels, and half the weight. this web site is a great place for new commuters to get hooked on riding. we have our differences and opinions about brands/components, but there is a commeraderi{spelling?} that I love..
thank you all.........

Welcome!
As a hybrid evangelist, I have to say wtg on your FX purchase. I have a 7.2 that is my favorite bike of them all.

Glad to hear you got a bike your happy with. I have a Trek 7200 that I use for a commuter. If you commute on mixed surfaces I think the best choices are a hybrid or a cross bike.
