Crazy new bike concept: Switchbike
Leave it to the Dutch... Check this thing out, pretty wild:

Note to mods and admins: It would be really nice to have a way to easily embed YouTube videos. I tried the YouTube embed code, which apparently isn't allowed by the BB server software, too bad.

saw that on Digg earlier. I don't really see the point. I feel like a recumbent today, nah, that was a bad idea.

Well it doesn't look terribly light... but I could see wanting the 'bent mode if you were doing long distance flat cycling... and the "diamond frame mode" if you needed to climb a bunch of hills and expected to be out of the saddle.

If you could lift it off the ground...
Plus, don't most people ride 'bent for comfort of the nice lawn-chair-esqe saddle? I don't see one of those on that bike!

I like the concept. I think it needs more work, though. The handlebars looked ungainly and it takes more than a seat-back to make a recumbant seat.

Looks great for urban riding:
Suddenly caught in traffic? Ditch the recumbent for an upright.
And just above I was thinking it would be great for short distances in the city with variable traffic conditions. Seems like it would be a great all-around bike.
So it's settled. If my city ever installs bike racks on the buses then I'm selling my folders and getting one of these.
