Marathon or Marathon Racer for NYC?

I've been riding Marathon tires on my folder for nearly three years now. I put the stock Stelvios on for special occasions, but they're hardly suitable for a daily commute (rubber gets chewed-up pretty badly). The current set of Marathons is about toast from wear. I'm thinking of going with Marathon Racer tires for something a little faster but nearly as durable. This is for a 29 miles RT commute entirely in NYC (I ride the folder for this maybe three times per week). Any thoughts?

I commute in NYC year round with Marathon racers. I am very happy with them. I probably get a flat once a year, and that's including lots of miles on the weekends. They roll fast. I haven't used regular marathons before, so I can't compare. I did move over to Pasela TG's for a 3 or 4 months, and I started getting flats every 3 weeks or so. I have also toured with the racers. In Japan I did about 1000 miles and had one flat. This summer I rode to to Canada and back, and had no flats. Hope that helps.

That is what I would describe as a "ringing endorsement". Thanks!

I rode a Marathon ( 700x35 @ 85psi) tire 5,000 miles over London roads - to the end of its working life - 1 flat at the end.
Marathon or Marathon Plus.
There's a reason they cost more. They're worth it.
And your time is far more valuable than the difference.

You don't want to change tires, with either you won't.
