trade in GF
i have been toying with the idea of trading in my GF Cobia and getting myself a Specialized Globe Sport Disk. i would like to keep Gary but idont think the wife would like it. i have two other bikes i said i would sell but have yet to do so. plus i thought i would be mtn biking more but i find that i am more commuter than mtn biker. the Globe seems to have everything i could want like fender and rack braze ons.
i do have a rack on the GF plus i rigged up some fenders but i have yet to try them out(did it just today). any thoughts?

Any thoughts to a commuter bike that is not so mountain bike like? Most of us in the commuting forum use some derivative of a road bike...whether that is a built for speed road bike, a touring bike, or a cyclocross bike.
I think, by the way, almost everyone thought you were trading in the girlfriend...I would have said something funny along those lines too, but 4 others beat me to it.
The Globe isn't a hugely different bike...most of the difference in cost is the lack of a suspension fork; a GOOD thing to leave off for a commuter.
I do think the Globe is better suited for commuting...the geometry is only subtly different, but the rigid fork is so much better. But I also think that a road bike derivative is much better than the Globe. Once your trips get longer, you'll no longer be satisfied with the Globe.
So get the Globe now, and in a year it can become your "short neighborhood trip" bike after you get a bike more suited to go the distance!

Sell the Cobia and get the '08, they changed the geometry and it handles like a 26-incher. Soooo sweet, you have to test ride one to believe it. If you can find a dealer with both Specialized and Trek, buying two bikes at once might earn you a nice discount on your Globe.
You can never have too many bikes.
I'm guessing you'll have to leave your wife for this, which could be a drawback

+1 on the thread title. I couldn't wait to read about getting rid of a girlfriend who isn't into bikes

On a serious note. Why the Sport disc rather than the Globe City 7? The City 7 seems like a much more complete bike for less money.
