Bike to work week activism 5/16/08?
Has anyone organized anything before for bike to work week/day/month? My bike club (if not it's members) is interested in advocating, as am I because I am the advocacy chair and an avid commuter. I was thinking about promotion with banners/fliers etc. I was thinking about holding classes before-hand at the bike shop (any legal issues?) I was feeling the irony of taking that day off work to do this...
thanks for any ideas...

Bike to Work Week
Victoria has a huge Bike to Work Week campaign. Our office is heavily involved.
Lots of ideas, yours sound like a good start
Where are you located,
How much can you spend?
Here is the Victioria BTWW web site

Send me an email if you'd like further information.

It's completely pointless here. I've been commuting for 3 years now every day, and I'm still the only one out of 800 employees. SE Michigan is the land of the car. I couldn't force people onto a bike with a shotgun.

Madison, Wi (and the Bike Fed of Wisco and others) organize many many events for BTWW.
If you can find a bike advocacy group in or around your town, they can help.
check bfw.org or contact them if you want a list of activities that they organize (this year's list is not up yet)
here is a link to events from last year:

May is "Bike to Work *Month*" in NYC. Google for the calendar to see what sort of activities take place. Maybe that will give you some ideas. I think classes are among the activities.

Amen, I am north of you and most people consider a cyclist to be homeless and engaged in an illegal activity by riding on the roads.
