handlebar basket

I have a Specialized Sirrus that I use for commuting. I'd like to put a Wald delivery basket on the front but can't figure out a way to mount the basket around the brakes/shifters. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Basil make baskets with the Rixen and Kaul klickfix quick-release fitting. R&K make an extender bracket which adds a couple of inches space. Good for clearance but less good with heavy loads. You may need a small front rack to support the basket.

Best solution is a small Nitto front rack and a Wald basket

There are two versions of the rack, one clamps to the fork legs directly, the other bolts onto the cantilever brake bosses (as pictured)

Could you please elaborate on how you attached the basket to the Nitto rack? I can't make it out from the picture.

Thanks!

Hmm - OP basket looks like wire zip ties with some green shims underneath.
I used pipe clamps for mounting my basket to Nashbar front rack.
It did withstand moderate amount of abuse, for example:

The Wald Delivery Basket is very heavy and will affect your steering even when empty. I had one on my cruiser but later down sized because of the effect. It was nice to be able to carry all the stuff you can fit into it, but ultimately, I found it too burdensome.

More or less correct. Plastic zips ties. The green shims is actually hosing split lengthwise. This helps level out the basket and keeps it from rubbing.
