New guy here.....Guess what I want to ask you?

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
Yup - 21 speeds, 3 chainrings in front and 7 cogs in the back in a SunTour Accushift drivetrain.
It's far down the list in their catalog from 1991, in which Trek only lists a few hybrid Multi-Track bikes. The 750 looks like it was the top-spec'd steel frame of those hybrids.

Is it a 1991? That's pretty new I commute on a 1984 Trek 520 tourer. Steel bikes last.

Wow. I feel like I'm having beginners luck. This seems like a nice bike to start out on. Hopefully all goes well and it is a good fit. He says he's had several emails about it, but I'm the first one to call him, so I have first dibs when I go to check it out tomorrow. It also depends on cash. My tax return is scheduled to be in my account tonight at midnight! It had better be there! Otherwise I'll try to buy it friday if it's still available.
But on the other hand, I found this bike on CL after only my 2nd day of looking. Each day there are over 20 bikes posted for sale on my local CL......so if I don't get this one I'm bound to find another in no time!

I'm pretty sure if you squint at the closeup of the rear wheel you can see a second eyelet just behind the one the rack strut is attached to. It looks like there's one at the bottom of the front fork too. Those would be fender strut mounts, suggesting the bike can accomodate fenders. Even if it doesn't have mounts for conventional fenders, there are a variety of adaptive fenders on the market that can fit almost any bike. For example one of my kids has a rear fender that attaches to the seat post, and a front fender that is basically a long plastic sheet 3 inches wide that velcros under the "downtube" (the tube from the handlebars to the pedals) to shield the rider from front wheel spray.

Oh yeah, it was designed to be fitted w/fenders. Most hybrids are. Fenders, rack, bags, lights etc. Your bike will be Fredilicious in no time. Planet Bike makes a good set. SKS, too. Would sugest a Delta Universal Mega Rack as they're adjustable and just about bombproof. Just use some Loctite Blue on the threads...the bolts have a tendency to vibrate out w/o it. Sunlite makes a real nice, inexpensive trunk bag available at bikepartsusa.com. Wouldn't recommend Jandd Saddlebags. They look nice, but carry very little.
BTW, Walgreens has some multi-colored blinking light strands for around 4.00 per set. They take 4 AA batteries and look very cool to complete your Christmas ensemble. You'll wow your friends and be the talk of the neighborhood. Have fun. Cycle commuting's the BEST.

Dang. Our tax return was supposed to come through yesterday electronically. Well I woke up this morning and it did NOT come through. So I couldn't buy the Trek. I called the guy and told him. He says he'll keep me in mind if it doesn't sell. But I'm thinking it'll sell.

Hope you snag it but there will be others. And remember it will pay for itself, before long.

Hey everybody, I'm still here. I didn't end up getting the trek 750.
I have a guy right now who's willing to trade me a bike for my snowboard.
He's got a couple to choose from.
A Trek 7100
A Trek 7500
He also says he has others; Cannondale, Mongoose etc.
I went to Tek's website and looked at the specs and I think they may not be big enough for me. What do you think?
I'm going to ask him about the other bikes.

Well Darn. I was reading further about the Trek 7100 and the 7500 and it appears that they both have suspension forks....not really what I am looking for. Well he says he's got a Cannondale and a few others, so I'm awaiting an email from him.....
