A sticker for your helmet

I actually have one of these on my motorcycle helmet. Now I just need one for my bicycle helmet.

I pass a parked pick up every night that sports one on the bumper. Hope it works.

I have 'DON'T BE SUCH A WUSS' on the left side of my helmet where drivers and their passengers can see it. Unamerican.com rocks.

Is it safe to put stickers on helmets?

I recall reading on a rock climbing forum that they can weaken the part of the outer shell on which they are applied--climbing and biking helmets are not all the same, though.

Anyone know?

Does the outer shell matter? I didn't think it did anything?

All it does is keep the Styrofoam from getting chipped and chewed up form normal use. It's just taped to the
Styrofoam.

When your helmet stinks and normal washing does not remove the stink pealing off the tape allows you to remove that plastic shell so you can clean it throughly. Use black electrical tape to reattach the plastic shell to the Styrofoam.

While the shell is off you could paint it to match your bike.

According to some engineering types that made a presentation at our school, the shell's job is to spread the impact over a wider area, and the styrofoams job is to cushion and shatter under that impact.

Just like it's difficult to crush an egg in the palm of your hand, but easy to crack it with your fingers.

I think most helmets now are formed into the plastic, at least the last several helmets I have are like that. You can't remove the plastic 'cause it's Vulcan mind melded with the Styrofoam.

So long as you put another one on the opposite side, otherwise your head will be unbalanced.

I don't think I'd worry. 1) I doubt that the sticker adhesive does much, and 2) the outer shell isn't designed to absorb impact anyway.
