First commute

I got my bike a month ago and have been doing 3.25 miles twice a day to get to the bus for the remainder of the 14 mile commute to work. I'd not call that truely commuting by bike, but I had to start somewhere. This morning I did the 14 miles for the first time, so I think I'll call myself a commuter and mean it.

But boy are my legs wobbly. I'll take the bus home, and probably not repeat the full ride until Tuesday. But the time was much shorter than I anticipated, taking well under the two hours I alotted. Anyone who hasn't giving commuting a try shouldn't let 14 miles keep them from doing it. By the end of the year I probably wont even notice the trip, my heart will be stronger, and I'll have saved the cost of my bike on car expenses (or close to it).

So allow me this self congradulatory post... I wont make a habit of it.

I regularly pass busses. No point in riding them if you can bike.

Tell that to my legs... I know... I'll get to where that's not an issue.

Good job ! 14 miles is a very respectable distance.

I exactly know what you mean by wobbly legs But in no time you will get stronger and wont even feel the distance. Good luck with your recovery !
