I was about to...
...create a thread asking why everyone has such issues with falls and clipless pedals.
Then today, I fell on clipless pedals...
I thought I could coast and stay clipped in, in time for the light to turn green, when I realized I couldn't, I tried to unclip my right foot but didn't have any momentum to keep me balanced.
PLOP! Right on the floor (thank god for gloves!)... I'll think twice when I read another story about someone falling with clipless pedals.
Now, I need to learn how to clip back in faster! (the pedal always faces the ground when I try to clip back in)
Enjoy your commute all and your memorial day weekend!!!

I learned my lesson a loong time ago riding rollers in the basement. The phone rings
and it is my brother on the phone. I tell him this riding on rollers is easier than I thought,
I can even do it "no hands".... At that exact moment the bike jumps off the rollers and
gets amazing traction on the carpet and I crash into the wall. I then hear the laughing coming
from the phone. [Note this was done back before wireless phones. Back then the phone
company owned all the phones...]
Anytime I get the urge to say - hey this isn't so hard I remember that day

Oh god, Ruckin, the mental image...you are making me laugh and laugh and laugh.
Diretemus, the key is unclipping when your speed is very low or likely to be. Most of the time when commuting in the city, I don't wait until the moment I intend to put my foot down to unclip -- too many things can force me to plan B.

It was pretty intuitive for me to unclip well before I had to stop, and that's what lead me to my predicament.
I decided to wait to the very last minute before I had to unclip, in the hopes the light would turn green. When it didn't turn green and I had to unclip, I got rocked!

Heh. My shoes and pedals are such that I can unclip, shift my foot a bit forward, and continue to pedal, so unclipping early is not a problem -- sometimes when traffic is uber-sticky and things are really stupid with double-parked cars, I will ride a couple blocks like that.
