Wanna steal some cars?!
Found on my ride in to work this morning. Finder's keepers.
Umm, and I was kidding about stealing cars. It might be fun to move some around to confuse people, though.

Keep in mind this was at a small high school in a small town where theft was not a problem, especially for this old junker.
Anyways, some of us would sneak out to the parking lot from time to time and move his car to the very end of the lot and laugh at him later that afternoon when he'd be "hiking" out to his vehicle.

Good for the OP to have removed a possible theft tool from the road. Some idle teen may have gotten expelled for playing with it. Unless you are a repo man or a bonded locksmith some police could put a lot of hurt on you for possession.

Actually, I'm an amateur locksmith (that is, I play with locks that I own or have permission to play with on private property but do not have a license). I plan on getting licensed one of these days, but right now there's not much purpose to it. My job is related to security (okay, information security) but all aspects of security are a hobby and passion of mine. That does include some of the darker arts such as lockpicking.
I plan on taking it home and putting it with all my other lockpicking stuff. I actually have a slim jim that I made myself some time ago that's a lot higher quality than this. Plus, slim jims rarely work on modern cars. You need what the industry calls a "caddy killer" and window wedges, and potentially a bunch of other specialized equipment.

Yeesh, do slim jims even work on any car anymore? I've only owned Fords, and every one since the late 80's have had welded steel boxes around the lock mechanism; even when I've played around with the inner door panel off so I could see what I was doing, there's no way to get it open with a slim jim. You pick the lock or break the window. You can't drive them off either even if you pick or pull the lock or hot wire it (if that's even possible anymore, I doubt it - you'd have to fool the ECC) because every car's got RFID chipped keys now.
Probably someone make one and threw it away when they realized they couldn't actually open any car made since 1985 with it.

As long as there are Chryslers with glow rings, the only key you need is a rock and a screwdriver.

Also depends on some other things. For example, the lock bar is protected on a lot of cars but the bar that gets pulled by the handle inside the car is unprotected inside the door, and many cars will unlock when you pull the door handle from the inside. If you can pull that one with a slim jim, you're sometimes in pretty quickly.

always rides with luggage
But all Ford Rangers have been more-or-less the same mechanically since at least the beginning of time, right?
I had a guy slim jim my 89 Sable once. I learned to carry a spare key the hard way.
