Can I get my decoder ring now?

So there I was.... I've been biking to work for a month and a half now without incident. I guess I finally got good enough to be dangerous... to myself!

I was cruising along at a good clip, maybe a bit under 20, and made a sharp right turn onto a one way road. All is well until I get to close to the curb, panic and bite it. Don't know how, but falling to my left I hurt my right shoulder, hit the right side of my head (think I hit the helmet since it didn't hurt to bad), and banged up my left palm.

The bike faired well, only had to realign the handle bars and put the chain back on the front. Checked it out after I rode it home, and all is well from what I see. Will have to tighten a few spokes, but that can wait.

All in all I jumped right back up, no one seemed to notice, and I haven't had to go to the doctor. So can I be a member of the club now?

Glad you're okay.

Yes, you're now at that point where you know enough to do some real damage. This is were being responsible is supposed to kick in, that's what you're accident was, it was the universe giving you a little warning. Obviously someone had some pull somewhere and you got off lightly. Lesson learned

Be careful out there!

Cheers!

Replace the helmet, since it's been "used" now, and you'll get your decoder ring as a free gift!

Crash often enough, and you'll become pretty good at it.

I've a friend who is a bike racer and former Olympic cyclist. When we get together, talk always turns to my feats of two-wheeled klutziness.

"Cycling isn't a contact sport," he chides.

I reply "It is the way I play it."

I'm an expert. I can crash while waiting at a stoplight. Very embarrassing.

Provisional member. To be a master, you must observe the following policy:

If you're able to get up, you must shout "I meant to do that!" even if nobody's around.

If you're not able to get up, but a good Samaratan offers help while you're lying
on the ground, you must say either: (a) Is the bike okay? or (b) Just put me back on the bike.

Dang. Now I'm going to fall.

Is there Blood- Nope. I was in uniform (army) so it prevented anything but a little irritation. Now my shoulder is PISSED today, but hopefully that will go away. If not in a couple days I'll see the doc.

As for a new helmet, I'll pick one up this weekend. I'll probably take the cruiser in tomorrow just to keep the weight off my shoulder vs the road bike.

I actually was pretty happy with the way i fell. I think I took away most of the damage potential by rolling.... Or at least that's what I tell myself.

As if one day of activity wasn't enough, today I got evacuated from my house because a fire got to close. Seriously now! House was good though, so nothing too bad. Wouldn't want to check my blood pressure right now though.

O, and lesson learned. Definitely.... Until tomorrow
