I haven't had a drink in 25 years but you only want flat beer on St. Patrick's Day, adding the green coloring does that.

The people who were hipsters in 2008 are now grown ups.

I watched a guy struggle to go up a little incline on a fix gear the other day with his hands right next to the stem on really short bars. It was all I could do to keep a straight face. For me it will always be drop bars, road or pista (I actually like pista bars better for climbing) with both brakes and real levers/hoods. In other words, serious road bikes.

Hipsters in Sacto have moved on from FGs to craptastic Puch mopeds.

I was confused about a narrow bar fixie thread in 2017 until I saw the older posts and realized that the world has seemingly moved on from hipsters on fixies.
They're popular with lads of about 12-16 here in Korea these days, and I actually read a wonderful blog post by an SF Randonneur the other day, about riding a fixed Rivendell Quickbeam in a brevet from the Golden Gate to a lighthouse somewhere. His bike sounded wonderfully pure in terms of bicycle DNA.
The hipster urban fixie thing may be a bit over in 2017 but fixed gear riding is stillgoing strong it seems, just in new--and old-- ways.

I still see lots of fixies, some with straight bars, some with drops, various pedal and brake variations, etc. Hipsters still ride the narrow bars in Boston, but so does a 60 year old friend of mine. I ride a straight-barred belt-drive IGH with short stays that bobs and weaves through traffic as needed. I like the bars slightly narrower than my shoulders, to provide enough control and comfort while avoiding side mirrors at the tight spots.

I had to Google "Good Charlotte" to find out who/what that was. Interesting bunch of fellows... do they ride fixed?

These days I see more school age kids on fixies than adultish hipsters. I like fixed gears. However,
a) Super narrow straight bars are silly, and
b) No brakes is just stupid.
