kryptonite chain

Hello, I plan on getting a Kryptonite lock and chain. I will use it mainly to lock our 4 bikes to the bike rack when on vacation. Im not sure if I should get the Noose end
or the other one that the two ends come together. Is there an advantage to the Noose chain. Does anyone have a suggestion ??

Thanks
Mike

I would think you're going to need more than one lock to properly lock four bikes to a rack. Buy one of each?

I think the standard chain is longer, but then again using one lock for 4 bikes is really stupid. The thieves only need to do the amount of work necessary to steal one bike, and they get 4! If they see something like that, they will be well motivated to come back later on with power tools and take all of the bikes.

Where are you going on vacation?

If in a high theft area, you need to secure all the wheels, seatposts, etc too.

Could always try one of their 15' long Kryptoflex cables for locking multiple rides together, if you can find one, that is, I think they stopped making them.

But they also make them in 7' and 30' lengths, I use a 7' one for my bike and trailer.

I should have given more detail. We are going to Minnesota, Walker/Hackensack area. Very low crime area. We will only be locking them for a short amount of time and only in the day time. We are staying in a private cabin and take them in at night, so the night time is not a worry. We will probably only be in one area for a couple hours while we are in town and on our way to the bike trails. Right now I have a 6' cable Knox Lock and that fits around and thru the wheels and the bike rack rails. Is the Kryptonite lock and chain still a bad idea ?

Well, given your new information I am changing my mind and I think you should go for it. I thought you were going to leave them out all day in a busy place.

You might want to look into the OnGuard chains, I think they come in longer lengths. I think I saw them for sale online in 8-ft lengths a couple times.

The NY Noose is great. The main advantage of it is that you can loop it (noose style) around a fixed object then thread the chain through several bikes (I go through the rear triangle and rear rim) then lock either lock the lock to a tube of the last bike, or if you have enough chain left over to the chain itself. In effect the NY Noose about doubles the length of usable chain you have to work with compared to a standard chain. I'm quite happy with mine, although it's heavy. If you do go for it make sure to get the longer one.

Do you have any idea how heavy that would be? Who carries around 30 pounds of chain with them?
