Specialized Allez elite triple

Looking at a bike to use around long island for 20-50 mile rides. Found this used specialized allez elite triple, 2005 model. Assuming its in good shape what would a fair price for it be considering its age. Right now the guys asking 760$ for it.

I'd go $500, no higher than $600. They're very nice bikes, but I've seen the same vintage roadies around here go from $450-800 (nothing really high end).

Are you sure theyre not worth more? I looked on specialized's website and the bike retailed for 1200(back in 05. Do bikes lose value that quick? I offered 600$, but havent bought it yet. I a bit cash strapped. Maybe I should look around a bit more for a better deal?

up on going with an Allez.

For comparison someone is selling this Allez in Houston for $625. Though I would offer $525 and see where that went.

Try to get that Allez your looking at in the high 500 - low 600 range. Good luck.

I've been using this one since April. It was a new-unsold 2005 model that the LBS owner was holding on to for whatever reason. He'd upgraded some things, it's got Ultegra deraillers & brifters, a pair of Ultegra/Mavic Open Pro wheels, CF seatpost, CF bars, and a way-more-comfortable-than-it-looks Ritchey racing saddle. I paid $1,200 for it... More than the average used price, but in line considering the upgrades.

Naturally, I negated the advantage of all those lightweight bits when I added a Delta rack and trunk, a pair of LED headlamps, and three taillights. Not to mention the Fred Factor Performance platform pedals w/clips & straps.

Just 'cause I commute doesn't mean I don't like to go fast....
