Roadside scavenging

Switching recently to a solidly urban commute from a rural one, it never ceases to amaze me what's out there just laying on the roads: cash, tools, jewelry, electronics, etc! Trash day can be especially interesting and/or heartbreaking.

Some factors I consider when scavenging by bike:
-- worth of item vs. mass of item, momentum of bike
-- traffic density, position of item on/along roadway
-- environmental, aesthetic concerns

So what are some of your favorite roadside finds? Criteria for scavenging?

I will usually pick up any Gold, Large Denomination Bills, Diamonds, or Rolex Watches I happen to spot.

I found a game for PlayStation2 on the roadside, intact in its case. It had stamps on it identifying it a being from a local rental place, but when I tried to return it their store on that street had closed or changed locations. I don't have a PS2, so now I'm stuck with the game and don't know what to do with it.

My rear tire found some glass yesterday morning-does that count?

My route is mostly rural, so normally just find dead animals.

Jealous. My 10mm 3/8 drive deep well was only a Craftsman. Quarter car wash, 2.5 weeks ago riding w/wife. Carwashes good place to find tools. Not jealous of the glass tho.
