Rivendell Bleriot anyone?
So, I've done the search and found some older threads on this, not much new.
Is anyone commuting on a Bleriot? If so, any cons? Do you wish you'd gotten a different bike? I'm trying to decide between a Bleriot and Salsa Casseroll. I like the Bleriot and have ridden it, just kind of unsure about weight... I don't have the chance to ride a Casseroll as there are none in my area, although I like the looks, etc of the Casseroll. Thoughts? |
I've always wondered if the utility of those bikes was compromised by the fact that they are just too nice to leave locked up outside for any significant amount of time. (Talking about the Rivendell there.)

The beauty of the Rivendells(even the relatively inexpensive Bleriot) is it's greatest strength and biggest weakness. The retro look of the blue and cream and the lugs makes it look way more expensive than it is, but it's also very flashy and a theft magnet. I don't think I'd like to leave one locked up, even with a New York Lock. Too flashy.

Well, luckily I'll have a secure place to keep it while at work. Besides, that's one of the reasons I carry renter's insurance. So, has anyone commuted on one?
Thanks |
Yeah, I had an opportunity to buy a used Bleriot in my size for $1K earlier this spring, but I sat on my hands. Regretting it.

Thanks I had to list my custom trike as a "listed" item to get all risk/full coverage and pay an extra small premium to get the necessary covereage. I figure $12 a year is good piece of mind. :thumb: |
I'll double check my policy, thanks!
I just ordered my new Bleriot from Rivendell, it'll be in a couple of weeks from now. :D |
