my new toy...

Hey all,

I thought I would share a pic of my new (to me) commuter.

I rescued the frame from an apartment complex where it had been sitting outside for a month and a half with no wheels and not locked up. I asked the land lord if she knew who the bike belonged to and she told me that the frame had been there since spring so if I wanted it I could take it.

Here's a quick pic of the new beast:

This winter, when I switch to my mountain bike she is going under the proverbial knife for full uber commuter treatment, ie: moustache bars, bar-end shifters, full fender, rack, leather panniers, generator hub, brooks saddle, nice big crome headlight and tail light, old school chrome toe clips, a new paint job...you get the idea, but for now I`m really enjoying kicking around on my bright pink race bike.

I have no idea what year she is, but I do know that she's a peugeot and made out of good old fashioned reynolds steel.

Anyways, I rode her to work today and I swear that this bike feels nicer and smoother than my '07 TCR.
I still love the Giant to death but for the next little while I' m totally digging the Peugeot vibe!

I'm postulating she's either an '86, '87 or '88 from what I remember of Peugeot color schemes.

Sweet Reminds me of my first real bike. A beautiful silver peugeot. I got mine from a starving college student for $100 in '95. His loss, my gain.

Enjoy the ride.

Determining the age of the beast

https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in...p/t-41442.html

Thought this might be helpful determining how old your ride is. My Peugeot is, I believe, a 1986 model Iseran- same stickers, but a blue-gray color.

Within the text is this little snippet regarding Peugeot SNs:
"the serial number is Y70115198, and according to the site this is a 1980's norm for Peugeot, where there is a Y or B followed by the last digit of the 1980's date"

Nice score.

Your situation is a lot like my commuter bike I got last January from my son. I also want to add fenders and racks to it.
