Knog Frog Vs. Planet Bike Spok
Hey all...
I was wondering if anyone has used either of these micro-led lights?
I can get either set for around the same price, but would like to hear people's experience with either light first.
I guess my main questions would be:
1) Do you feel they were bright enough for you to feel safe and seen with?
&
2) Do you feel the mounting of the light is solid/secure?
Any other input in regards to these lights would be nice.
I've only seen the Spok light set in person, and although it seems very bright, i've very worried about the velco straps not staying secure when I mount it to my road handlebars.
Thanks again...

Frogs are easy to mount and take off if you don't want them lifted. Not for use on non-lighted roads. Nathan makes a knock-off for a bit less than the Knogs.

I had a Knog frog mounted to my helmet for a bit. I think the only thing it does is make you feel better that you have a light. It's not really visible until you're almost on top of the cyclist. I'd get something more practical.

the spok is brighter but both are still only supplemental lights.
answer to #1: absolutely not.
#2: the mount is as good as anything else.
still not a good choice as main safety light. spend 25 bucks and get cateye EL-220. Or wait for the new micro blackburn light- hella bright!

Thanks for the replys.
I already have a superflash (love that thing) so I'll just hold off for now for a front light and see what comes around. I was thinking of maybe getting the Cateye EL 510 or the Planet Bike Blaze 1/2 watt.
Looking forward to seeing this new micro blackburn light.... Any more info on it?

don't do the el-510, it doesn't flash. PB has a one watt blaze.
the blackburn light is sweeeet. self contained, recharges off a AA battery you hook up to it.
3 LED in front, size of the knog or spok.

oOoO... Thanks for the heads up on the Cateye!
Is there a site or somewhere that I can read up on this coming blackburn light? Do you know of its tentative release date?

Old thread. I have a pair of each of these lignts. Each time i got them i was caught unprepared for riding at night and near a bike store. The set of Knog Frogs cost me $10 and the set of Spoks cost me $15.
The Frogs are easier to take on and off, to avoid theft when you are parked.
The Spoks use velcro which sounds easy to take on off/ but it takes more time than the Frog rubber band type clasp.
The Frogs i have have on/off/flashing and a kind of flashing options.
The Spoks have on/off and flashing options.
THe Frogs seem to be a little brighter but the Spoks may project light wider.
I see there are differnent versions of Frogs so feature may vary.
As other people have said one use for these would be for emergency backup use in case your other lights fail. They do get spotted by motorists. Neither one are any good for lighting up the road, just for getting seen better than having no lights at all.
