Yah, in my case, the weight loss has slowed down and tossed me into a plateau. I was on a 90lb losing spree up to this point. I think the muscle building has balanced the weight loss. Pants are still getting more loose and all, but the scales are staying the same.

You pack your folding bike with you for business trips because you cannot imagine going a day without riding.

when you realize you can replace a spoke quicker than 95% of the population can change a tube

today was my 5th spoke in about a month and a half. i think these wheels have reached their breaking point, they are probably 10 years old with probably 10,000 miles on them. It took me under 5 mins to swap out mr pissed off spoke

I teach three days a week and work from home the rest. On my non-teaching days I pick a distant coffee shop and commute to it with my laptop for the morning. Don't want to give up the bike ride, and what's more, being in the house all day makes me stir-crazy. The really fun thing is that home is in a different city with a different bike than campus. Lots of variety.

This is the first day non-commuting in weeks and man am I itching to ride. On parental care duty - had to take my dad in for some tests. I guess I could add to the list: you know you're a real bike commuter when, in a weak moment, you wonder if you could fit your elderly parents in a Burley.

I almost posted about that too. Working "from home" means your commute goes wherever you want it to. Sweet!

Yeah, agreed. The real problem is not that I work from home, it's that I work for *myself*. Hence finding time for anything but 16 hour work days is difficult (but I love what I do )

Not kidding, I was looking at a wide sidewalk while sitting in traffic in my F150 yesterday. The police officer probably would not be very understanding.

When NOTHING posted in the commuting thread surprises you anymore. When a coworker anounces their intent to commute by bicycle and you pull out a pre made list because you KNOW what they will ask LOL.

how about when your bike is stolen right before you are about to ride to work, it shocks you and you need a minute. your friend then offers a ride and you shake your head. "No thanks" and walk home to get the spare MTB and ride to work a few minutes late. Last night this happened, saddening but reality hurts sometimes...

You find out you have to work Saturday and your first reaction is "sweet, i'll get another couple of rides in".

And bear in mind i'm a salaried employee who receives no compensation for overtime.

I just moved to Aurora about 8 months ago. I notice out here they don't plow residential streets, just the main roads. But you say they actually clear the MUPs? Do you know where, is that just downtown? My commute is mostly on road but I can take a good amount of bike trails if I choose to, mostly in eastern Aurora.

Like you I've toyed with the idea of getting studded tires for winter. I'm leaning against it now, just because I'm trying to save up some money for a mountain bike and I've been told I can still get a fair amount of commuting days in without them. We'll see.

I am thinking of quitting my job as a supervisor and going to a lesser job just to get rid of the company vehicle parked in my driveway, I wished I could ride to work.
