Are you done yet? Why are you deliberately trying to flame to a thread that was quite clear in it's objectives. All you have to do is click.

I'm an omnivore. I looked it up. Plus, my teeth and digestive system prove that I was meant to eat a variety of foods, including meat, vegies, and fruit.
I'm not dissin' vegetarians or vegans. I'm just saying that I don't feel guilty eating meet (I don't eat that much. My wife is a former vegetarian and both my daughters are vegetarians).
But I do eat meat and enjoy it.

I meant to add: My sister is a vegan, and a Budhist, and she rides a lot (a lot more than I do). She does a lot of half-centuries and such with her vegan boyfriend.

Please understand that this is the internetz, you can crate the beast, but have no control of it afterwards.

I'd try again in a few days with a different header and a little more self deprecating humor. Good luck.

I like this thread. I find it very supportive and encouraging.
I stopped putting milk in my coffee, and I'm prettymuch a peanut butter and banana guy. So if you don't count the leather bike seat or the possible trace of dinosaur in my rubber tires, I guess I'm a vegan commuter until lunchtime. Am I in?

We do, inevitably, kill animals to make our world what it is.
I do believe that if you promoted being a vegan to the indiginous people of the Amazon River Basin they would think you were out of your mind.
We live in quite a luxurious society when we can begin to be that picky about what we eat.
I'm not sure most cultures around the world have that luxury.

Oh my G-d. This is the funniest thread I've ever seen on BF. I'm sorry Zorkon if nobody is taking your thread seriously, but this was such a great laugh. I needed it.
The only thing that I can add to this is my own personal philosophy.
Vegetables aren't food. They are what food eats.
Edit to add:
I admire those who can keep healthy enough to ride on a lifestyle that precludes some major sources of protein and calories. That takes a lot of dedication.

You guys did vandalize this thread for no particular reason I can discern. I'm much too old a unix sysadmin to get bent out of shape about general netkookery, but staying generally on topic on a thread is a virtue and communication skill worth developing. And deliberately trashing a reasonable thread, is (how can I put it sensitively) not a sign of great wisdom and maturity.
As for veganism, I'm a vegan (with occasional travel related lapses). Compact vegan lunches are pretty easy to put together. I do various tempeh based sandwiches, and a lot of grilled veggies.

Perhaps the insistence of staying on the subject and disallowing those who are not vegans from posting along with claiming ownership to the thread could have fueled this fire. Name calling does not help.
This is just a reminder of the forum guidelines here on Bike Forums:
Respectfulness
We expect our member to show respect for others. Respecting their person, their views, their time and their opinions, and their belief systems ... even if you disagree with them.
Vegan or not, this thread is free for anyone to post on - but please keep the respect that one would show for another human being, vegan or not. Please try to stay somewhat on topic out of respect for the OP.
Now post away!!
Thanks,

I'll bite,
Just recently became a vegan (does that count). And I commute. So perhaps that counts. I am very interested in obtaining proper information about keeping fueled properly for cycling. I currently usually only commute 1 way per day as it is 17 miles one way, and summer with high humidity here so that knocks a day off or two as well.
However, the reason I have decided to do this is for specific health reasons I am experiencing and not out of any political stance, so which ever vegan slot that puts me in who knows.
What I am having a terrible time with right now is trying to choose the proper things to munch on seeing as I can not read the #$##$ labels where I live. So that is a real challenge, as well as the price of fresh fruit and veg here. Heck, I just seen a watermelon at the supermarket that was 40 bucks.

This thread just made my day...absolutely hilarious.
Pepper Grinder...that looks better than the venison burger I just finished.
"Apparently my crazy friend hasn't heard of the food chain."
As I used to say to my militant vegan coworker, "If I'm not supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?"
(In all seriousness, I do respect vegans who don't try and make me feel like the scum of the earth for being an omnivore.)

Otherwise, you are going to need to make a lot of your own food. I'd check out the food "How it all Vegan" as a good starting point to how to cook vegan, especially substitutions.

That's BS cop-out terminology. "I'm a vegetarian, except when I'm not."
That'd be the same as a guy saying "I'm straight, except when I decide to sleep with another guy. But I'm not bi; I'm flexisexual."
I'm going to try flexisobriety. I'll be a sober recovering alcoholic except for Friday nights, because it doesn't count if I just get hammered some of the time, right?

Instead of being an *** and pushing people away, why don't you try to be polite and encourage people to adopt a vegan lifestyle by telling us why it is such a good thing?
But since you apparently don't want me here, I'll unsubscribe now and continue to eat my eggs and cheese, ignorant of the benefits of being a vegan.
