I was wondering when there was going to be a post on this. Some of the usual issues were brought up and nothing new or insightful was gained from the discussion. There were a few mentions of Critical Mass and none of them positive, so again nothing surprising.

Dumb topic.
I don't see why drivers should have a problem with bikers. I've rarely had a hard time getting around a bike, and rarely are they in my way.
On the other hand, bike riders have a lot to worry about from cars.
Drivers have nothing to complain about.

Sometimes the best thing to do is start the tape, give them a microphone, and let them talk. It doesn't take long for wierdness to show, and being opposed by wierdo's is sometimes favorable to your cause.

Attention getting ploy. Like his running for office despite getting less than 1000 votes in San Francisco. We need a judicial system which can weed out egregious miscreants like that who are clogging the system without really wanting to advance anything about their community. Sad.

Rob Anderson is to bicycle commuting what ed Phelps is to gay marriage.
That NPR would allow someone like Mr. Anderson to lead off a program discussing bicycle commuting proves that they do very little research on their guests or the program topic much of the time.
Edit: Yes, Fred not Ed

I'm going to take it to mean that as a typo and you were referring to Fred Phelps, the leader of the Westboro Baptist church. In that case, given as how much of a stink he's made of himself and of his "congregation" maybe we should have people like Mr. Anderson on so that people know what sort of idiots are opposing bicycle paths. The term "useful idiot" comes to mind nicely.
