Reflective Deep-V's for the ultimate commuter wheelset

http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/product.php?prod_id=1099

A bit spendy at $104 per hoop, but wouldn't it be cool to have a super-strong wheel with super-reflectivity for your commute?

Deep Vs are heavy, and roll like it too.

They're covered in diamonds.

For only $19.95 you could just Bedazzle your current rims.

what's wrong with just getting reflective stickers and slapping them on?

Besides weight, they don't have a braking surface, according to the description. You have to use disc or drum brakes or you risk ruining the reflective coating. I'll take brakes over glowing hoops. Hopefully they'll refine the concept.

Not Elvis wheels - elvish wheels. Yo don't need brakes for those; they stop as if by magic.

I used to have Leprechaun wheels, they would magically stop at an Irish Bar.

But they *could* easily machine the braking surface like they do with their colored deep-v's. If they wanted to. And then if you had reflective sidewall tires you'd have TWO rings of light on each wheel. Groovy.

A bit redundant if you've got schwalbe's... but man, it'd light things up if you went that way... or worse these plus sweetskinz...

People are supposed to buy that after just seeing an MS paint "image" of it?

meh, why not just get some normal V rims (with braking surfaces) and put reflective tape on the inside of the rim?
Probably cheaper... and probably more durable than this guy... from the sounds of it they went to a lot of trouble surfacing the metal itself and its very scratch-able...

Not a new idea. I have an ancient rear rim that has a glued on reflective tape. And I know off a shop selling colour coded reflective "rimstripes" for wheels, i.e. they can do reflective wheel stripes colour matched to your frame.

I've got some tires made with uranium to go with those - they glow all night long - with our without a direct light source. I've got a few extra down in the bomb shelter. If you want a set just send me your address.
