Bikes / household statistic?

Does anyone know where I can find either a bicycle/capita or bicycle/household statistic for either the USA or Canada?

I don't know but I can guess that with fuel prices and the recent popularity of cycling the statistics are changing everyday!

I'm a one man household and have 5. Pared it down from 12 to 4 in the year 2002, but had to get another. At least one gets used EVERY DAY. I've rolled two of them today.

I am not sure where to get such statistics. My household has 5 bikes right now and 2 riders. 4 of them are mine, though I am trying to shrink my stable now.

Bikeforums members are probably not representative of the United States at large.

In the age of google there exists no excuse for not finding useful (and trustworthy...!) statistics.

Hint: the statistic you're looking for is found somewhere among the above links if you read closely.
