Approaching one week...

... of not commuting by bike. I'm cranky, tired and have a splitting headache. Bike remains at the LBS waiting for a replacement part (folding handlebar latch). I'm weighing the pros and cons of riding the nice bike to work and risking its theft -- not much in the way of places to lock it to. That would make my mood even worse. I almost bought a new bike on Monday, but couldn't quite justify the cost of even another cheapish folder. Sigh... hoping the commuting gods have mercy on me and speed the delivery of the replacement latch, but I haven't heard from the LBS yet and it's almost time to go home.

I knew I was addicted to bike commuting, but I didn't think there would be withdrawal symptoms

I've been through this too, and it drove me nuts.

If you're concerned about the nicer bike getting stolen, perhaps you could pick up an inexpensive but solid used bike as a backup.
