First flat in over 5500 miles! *

* Not counting the office staple some moron though was funny to put in my tire!

I switched out tires for a weekend ride... 48 hours and 42 miles later, 3/4 mile from home... BOOM! My front tire blew off the rim! I came to a steady stop, repaired the wheel and finished the ride.

It tore the rubber down to the wire bead so I'm guessing it's time for new tires, even though these only have 500ish miles on them

What brand of tire took you 5500 miles? I've been riding on Armadillos and have been flat free for about 2000 miles (with about 4 flats the previous 500 miles before getting the Armadillos).

After having six flats over the summer (three on single day in July), I'm happy to report that I haven't had a another one since August. Seriously, I thought it was time to replace my tires (a Big Apple and a Marathon)-- so I ordered new ones, intending to change them next time I had them off the rims. So now that I have the new tires ready to go on --one in my desk at work, one in my basement at home-- I haven't needed them. Not that I'm complaining, you know.

As with flipping a coin, you can't use past results to predict future results. Your chances of getting a flat are the same today as they were yesterday, regardless whether you got a flat the day before.
