Who is Laurie Doyle?

This is the burning question -- who is this guy, and why were his tyres advertised on the back of that ute? Normally when gridlock hits most of the drivers around here manage to figure out that they are going to be stuck there for a while regardless. However, there's often one exception, and today it was Laurie. I lost count of just how many times that guy changed lanes today -- and it made not a whit of difference. Well, except that I was feeling particularly smug when I dropped him.

He must be new to the rush hour. Most regulars seem to face it with resignation, but there always seems to be one that thinks he can get there faster.

My guess is it's someone who is acting like a buffoon in traffic, whilst driving a ute that proudly displays his business name and phone number. Not the brightest bulb in the box, but I guess that's why he's selling tyres.

https://www.streetutes.com/members_rides/profiles.php

Not all of them are like this mind you. Often they're smaller with an aluminium bed on the back. Tradesmen seem to favour Nissan or Mazda's. Commodore ute's like the one's in the link above seem to be more for the boy-racer types. The kid over the road has one.

They are not SUVs, but they are no less annoying, mainly because of the dipwads driving them. Mitigating this, most tradesman are off the road by the time I'm riding. They generally start early (7:00 am or before) and finish early (around 4:00 pm)

Here on the Coast we have to put up with 45 year-old teenagers carrying surfboards in them, so I'm a little torn here. A southerly wind cools the weather conditions down (which is good), but also picks up the surf (hence putting more of these dropkicks on the road). Do I want a southerly or not???

Hey Chris surfing's sweet, at least it'a non-polluting activety, although I'm useless at it I enjoy the rare wave I manage to catch I work only 1k from the beach so there's always a coupl'a old boards knocking around the locker room that no one owns (communial property).
We're going to have to call you Crusty Chris Only joking ! as long as we keep spelling TYRES right we'll be OK
