OK...let's talk about other cyclists.
I am being subjected to an unfair stereotype thanks to all of you wannabe Lance de Tour folks wearing lycra. THAT my friend is why "THEY" hate us. Because some of "us" dress like clown sausages.
Here is the proof at the Car Forum:

I am highly offended by that spandex remark! Those of you who wear that stuff should consider how that effects the rest of us!

This was my first impression when I saw the vid. Maybe this was the case, maybe the driver was being a jerk, without more info it seems like finger+punch is a bad idea. My 2 cents...

Joey, whether they like you or not, you certainly inspire comments.
Your vids are like forum thread food. Drop one in and the thread just grows and grows.

Thought I would take a minute to thank all of the folks who didn't kick me around this thread. (Sorry if I missed a few)
Special shout out to TRaffic Jammer and apricissimus who always seem to be in my corner.
Thanks again for watching my back. I love it when I read a negative post at work and before I get home to respond, one of you has already taken care of it.
Cheers!
Joey

Usually I do not Comment on the op's antics because to each his own, and he obviously has MUCH better bike handling skills than I do, but I can no longer resist. To the op: I have mixed feeling about your videos, From an entertainment point, they are great because they embody, I think, many of the things we would all like to do but feel unsafe doing. From a practical standpoint, I find them rather frightening because no matter how good you are sooner or later fate will catch up. Here's to hoping it's much later! I can understand the urge to "send a message". Not the way i would choose, but if it worked for you great. personally i would have yelled and ridden real close behind the truck and went on, but that's me.

What I wanna know is when are we going to get "Third World. Part II?" I've already seen that Mid-City has turned to schitt, what else?

On the other hand, Broadmoor is back, Lakeview is improving slowly.
Last weekend my wife had a back injury - kept me home waiting on her. This weekend I am down with the sinus/chest crud. So production has been delayed on those projects. I'll PM you when the next one goes online.

the auto punch is most commonly administered by bicyclists to the windows of motorists encroaching on their left at roughly equivalent speeds.
punching the back of a truck that entered an intersection 100 feet before you, but was slow moving due its size and intersection dynamics is a new one to me.
yelling at him so he'd stop so you could more easily punch the back of the truck is crafty.
what time of day was it, and do you run daytime LEDs? More motorists yield their right of way to me when I run a high intensity (150 lumens) LED on flash mode.

So he hits the gas for whatever reason - then has a change of heart - most likely because if he hits me or I hit him, the cops will be called and not only delay him, but cite him for failure to yield.
The rest is a bunch of Neanderthal posturing that probably neither one of us is proud of now. But him slamming on his brakes in an attempt to make me hit him was the clincher. I had to push off of the truck anyway to avoid a crash, so I pushed off with a punch.
Nice thing about video, I can see that my position in the road approaching the intersection could have been better. I should have been in the left tire track, not the right. He would have seen me a split second sooner.
At the start of the vid, you can see the sun. Time was an hour and a half before sunset. Running daytime lights is probably not a bad idea. Just like a motorcycle. Problem with that, as soon as they ID me as a cyclist they are likely to run the stop RIGHT in front of me anyway, just like they do at night. I run 30 watts of NightSun.

It's not that simple. There are no stop signs.
The truck shouldn't have pulled out and then stopped. If it had checked both directions, seen Joey and then proceeded through the intersection quickly enough not to block the right of way of the vehicle in motion then there wouldn't have been a problem. If it had waited there wouldn't have been a problem.
What happened is that the driver failed to notice the cyclist approaching the intersection and so was not going to safely clear the intersection before Joey's arrival. He then became either confused or irritated and hesitated in the middle of the intersection.
Joey was able to avoid him, despite the trucks erratic false starts, which means that Joey wasn't riding unsafely as far as the basic speed law is concerned. He might be faulted for not riding defensively, but he didn't break the law. The truck technically did, but probably not intentionally. At least until the ges-ticular communication began.

Here is the Google Street View of what the truck saw as he/she approached the intersection:
Google 400 block of Conti Street approaching Decatur Street.
Interestingly, if you proceed one click on the map to the intersection and look RIGHT, you will see what appears to be two cyclists on the sidewalk that Google blur-censored. I wonder if that was because they were on bikes, or somehow "under-dressed".
