Good while it lasted
Well after riding since last spring without a flat it has finally happened. FLATS and lots of them! I knew that i would get some when i switched to a narrow, high pressure tire but i've had three in the past week! Well it's time to pay the piper and boy am i paying.

I've dealt with 3 in the last month and a half. One was my own fault for putting too much air in the back tire. The others I blame on the plethora of glass shards that line the sides of the road.
The last instance, I found 3 different holes in one tube! Needless to say, I am becoming a patch master.

I would sometimes get "pinch flats" on higher pressure tires if I didn't religiously keep the tire pressure close to maximum every day. A "pinch flat" is also called a "snake bite," since it looks like two fangs have bitten the tire. It is actually caused by the rim pinching the tube on rough pavement.

Every lane is a bike lane
Also check the rim tape on the inside of the wheel. If that is wearing it will cause problems (I once had 4 flats in 10km because of this).

I recently renewed my rim tape on my rear wheel, a short time later "puncture" . repaired it, short time later another "puncture" this happened four times straight off and was begining to drive me mad, as on each occasion i thoughrly investigated for possible causes, I finaly resorted to a trip into the bike shop.
The guy immediatley spotted that when replacing the tape I had overlappped the two ends which had created a slight indent into the tube and the slight abrassion of the tape end was puncturing.
