I purchased my wife a Giro up at Liquidation World and its pretty low profile. I have a Specialized Enduro and its "big" too. My HeadLock is fairly low profile. (see avitar)

When you buy your new helmet, make sure to keep the Schwinn. I bought a new Giro Eclipse, and use it now that the weather has turned warmer (more vents). I kept the Schwinn because it has less vents, and in the winter that's less wind going through my helmet. Who cares what it looks like in the winter? (They are both tested, anyway.)

Cheers

Yeah, I was going to say that maybe kerny looks like a dork because kerny is a dork. But that aint necessarily true. I have met plenty of dorks that don't look like dorks, and plenty of visual dorks that aren't dorky.

But maybe kerny does look like a dork because kerny is a dork. Stranger things have been true. . .

I had the same problem with my last helmet. It was a Wallyworld special, a one size fits all deal. It looked like it was made for some meathead and i really looked like a mushroom.

I bought on of the Gyro Gillas and I look better in it. I would say that now i look more like a freak and less like a dork. That is a step in the right direction.

N7CZinMT......I had a tattoo appointment and a early meeting. I am employed by a physicians group and we are officed at benefis healthcare. Sometimes its a struggle since we straddle 2 campuses with meetings and all. I would say i commute at least 3-4 days a week.

I think you would look more like a dork without the helmet. And it has nothing to do with your looks.

Definitions of dork on the Web:

In AIPS++, a derogatory term used by programming hyper-deities to describe ordinary mortals. Possibly related to the Dorking, a strain of mutant chicken with supernumerary toes.

I rode to my son's appartment a couple of weeks ago. While I was using his bathroom I caught a glimpse of my self in the mirror. Lycra shorts, cycling jersey (that shows off my gut), wrap-around safety glasses, eyeglass mirror, and a dew-rag. I didn't realize I looked that dorky. I imagine that it looks worse with my one-size-fits-all Walmart helmet. I stopped caring about what other people thought a long time ago. I just use what works best for me.

ok ok.. i admit that's me.. lol... yeah right!

i can't afford sunglasses yet.. cuz i used up my yearly allowance for eyecare already. so instead i got a new pair of glasses with transition lens and anti-glare, anti-scratch.. and most of all everything is mounted on a super titanium electric blue frame. just picked it up today during work hour... rode my bike there and wore my new glasses back... sweet... i love it!

I know what you mean Kern. I work for the Mental Health Center. I have 16 office locations that I have to take care of. In fact, I have to go to Helena in the morning. So, no bike commute tomorrow.

On a positive note, we picked up our new tandem last night. The youngest kiddo and I took it out for a 4 mile spin when I got in from work. Lots to learn

Now, wheres that picture you promised..

Nice, I have randolph's too. 7 years ago someone told me they could stop a .22

BTW: Even the us government agrees that helmets are geeky and dorky. I'm afraid you're out of luck kerney
https://www.cpsc.gov/kids/geek.html

OTOH: a visor might make it look less mushroomy.
