Elad, Thanks for the comments on the flat bar set. I used a Zoom stem converter. I mention the Michelin 28 series tires because anything bigger would rub on the brake bridge. The do make the ride a little more plush without slowing it down too much.

Which FCR is this? The new 3? Cool color scheme.
This is my new commuter. I'd been riding a 17" Trek (I'm 6'2") since my other Trek was stolen and my 15 mile avg. distance was killing my knees. Still very much a work in progress, a new seat is high on my list, also better tires.

Close, it's an off-the-shelf item at REI or other fine Garmin retailers. https://www.rei.com/product/767418 It has the nmanhipot seal of approval, although it does take up copious amounts of bar space.
I'm thinking a plastic bag over the whole thing would be a good idea too. I wouldn't think the Nuvi would like getting wet.

Hi,
May I know more about the installation of your road shifters with the mechanical disc brake system? What is the feel like?
Call me crazy or what, been trying to install road parts on a mtb frame. I have a set of shimano 2200 shifters, but i been told that it will be tough to work that with a v-brake system. Anyone can shed some light on this issue? haha.

Thanks.
Since some time ago I didn't have much time to spend on this bike so I just converted it into a "commuter" bike so I can ride it more.
But soon I will be moving and I really wondered if it could handle some light snow over the new place

Hydraulic discs have a better feel, but these are still quite good, and stop just as well as conventional brakes. Big bonus for working in all conditions -- my DBX is my bad-weather bike. I still have the cyclocross levers on mine, too.
marcryan27, that's a hot-looking Dahon. The matte finish and black wheels look really good.

They're Avid BB7 road disc brakes. I have the same setup on my '06 Schwinn DBX. They work just fine with regular road shifters.

What he said. Works like a charm. I almost bought the '06, but I liked a few features of the '05 model better, not to mention it was drastically reduced when I bought it. If I'd known how many parts I would have had to upgrade before I was happy with it, though, I'd have saved up for something a little nicer like the Trek Portland. It was actually somewhat of an impulse purchase after months of research.
I think I got the last one from performance. The only things I've added are cages, pump, lights, and rack. Came with full fenders. In '06 they moved the rear caliper to the other side of the seat stay to make the rear "rack friendly".

I recently scooted the seat forward a touch because it was too far back for proper pedaling, and now it finally feels right. I was about to sell it because it felt too big (which it is, kinda, by one size; I've put a shorter stem on it, too).
