RGNY, nice to know another forumite commuting on Sunday! I'm sometimes Lay Eucharistic Minister, sometimes Thurifer.
But I've never had my front wheel pulled into a warp in the space time continuum.

heh. yeah. mirrored bus stop window for the pic.
and when i'm ushering, i've learned how to roll a blazer so that it comes out of my messenger bag unwrinkled. some of the little old ladies call me "Clark Kent" for my pre/post bike transformation.

Making adjustments...
The chairs are hideous, but since I work for the federal government, hideous chairs that are as old as my bike cost the taxpayer nothing to NOT replace them.

I think I've posted my bicycle here before, but I have a few new photos, so I thought I'd share them!
My commute takes me from the suburbs, up over a forest-y hill, through downtown and out into the industrial area near the airport.
ANYWAY, bicycle commute photos:

First Day Commuting
Today's my first time commuting by bike in over 4 years. My bike route is 16 miles each way, but by car it's 12 miles. Here's my bike, a 1998 Nishiki Blazer. I bought it brand new from my LBS in 2001, still rolls pretty close to new. I've never replaced the tires, though. I've got a new set of slicks arriving on my doorstep tomorrow and I can't wait to see what sort of difference they make in pedaling for me.

My "new" commuter, got it from a coworker when she moved out of town. Still needs a rack and some fenders but it's a nice little bike.

Thanks I'm really pleased to report the commute yesterday was unlike what I'm used to. I have lots of bikes, but this one is just the right amount of a comfortable upright riding position without sacraficing speed and the bike just feels "nimble" with a little (but not too much) weight on the front. I can tell this one will see a lot of miles. Here's a snap from yesterday on the way home:
Edit: here's a pic with it all finished up:

Here is something a little different, just converted from drop bars to VO Milan bars with a painted Salsa stem. I was finding it too hard to get comfortable with the nearly 4" drop from the seat to the drop bars so I figure this will solve the problem. Enjoy

Dorf those are two hugely different frame sizes. You ride both of those?
And what model of Schwinn is that? Looks cool.

When I was in San Diego I rode much more than I do now, I was commuting 4-5 days a week 12 miles each way. When I was doing that I was riding mostly typical road bikes. I have been having a tough time here in South Dakota getting inspired so I decided to get something more laid back so I got the Schwinn City bike and have been enjoying it. After doing some reading I found that I could get some flat bars for the road bike and it wouldn't look atrocious. I really like the feel of them and can't believe I never considered it sooner. Now I am considering doing the same thing to the MX Leader as well but it will be a more expensive proposition. It has Campy 8 speed ergo shifters so I would need to come up with some sort of suitable shifter for the flat bars or down tube levers. The Schwinn is an XL and the Bottecchia is a 62cm.
