Sadly I don't have a decent picture of the bike yet but I do have a video of me giving it a good wash one crazy night as I rode home falling fowl of a fast flowing ford!

https://youtu.be/9qpMDWx1Lk0

Certainly not recommended lol.

2013 Jamis Nova Sport. Pretty stock other than some lights and a computer. I'm getting a bike rack and more lights soon.

Disc/v-brake version tektro, they look huge due to the tiny bars they're the shallowest drops I could find I should actually just go back to mustache bars.

I have a set of TRP levers and I can't stand how long the hoods are. I bought them for a bike I was building up and I wish I hadn't. It might not bother some people but for me, these are the worst levers I have ever tried.

I like the long hoods, I pretty much live in them, and they're really nice in the winter when wearing thick gloves gives you plenty of room. I just wish they angled up more.

Kinda funny, like tires, what works for one guy is terrible for another. Cool project by the way, I too am working on a drop bar mtb commuter.

This is my winter bike for going to and from work/school. Specialized Hard Rock with studded tires. Just added leather mud flaps and a mirror in the second picture. Works great.

Here is one of my daily commuters. It's a Rocky Mountain frame, Surly 1x1 fork, mismatched handbuilt wheels from the 90's, Salsa handlebars from my fat bike, a Bontrager stem and crank from a road bike that was salvaged from a burned down garage, Surly 42t stainless chainring and 21t cassette cog, DMR tensioner, Shimano Deore v-brakes, and some studded Nokian tires. Stupidly comfortable bike. The frame I got off of ebay, and I've been led to believe it was a prototype frame. I'm not quite sure about that, but I can't find a matching production model. I actually have two of these, but one is too small so I built it into a mountain bike for a friend - after I had raced it for 6 months.

My commute is about 50 feet, so it mainly gets grocery duty. I have a green Surly Cross Check that gets ridden when I need to go any certain distance or get places quicker.

I love seeing commuter bikes with coffee cup holders. I know it is not for everyone but somedays it it just going to work , not a ride.

As you can see though, the spoke reflectors don't work for squat. The reflective stuff though works good, under regular lighting without the flash the stickers are so filthy they're actually a dull gray. Which reminds me, I better wipe them down right now!
I like tape, but after a long search and plenty of testing, found a product called Reflect-All. It's a new spray that you can put on almost anything. I'll try and get a night photo - but it's amazing how well it works.
You can tape off your ride for nice effects too.
Not sure where to pick it up, ordered mine from reflectallaz.com

I love this thread, because so much thought goes into these bikes.

bikerdude222, what a great idea. I might try it. You may want to try masking with liquid latex. It's a little hard to find. You can apply it with a very fine brush. When you're done painting, rub the latex off with your fingers. I'm using it to mask the chrome lugs on a frame I'm painting.

You should repost this in the "hot or not" thread. Although that isn't usually my taste, I'd say this ride is hot!

Yeah I did before, but I might again. I want to take another pic of it with the fenders mounted and the flipped stem. I may wait until I get a Topeak rack mounted up on there. Already have a Problem Solvers seat post binder installed with the threaded holes for the rack stays.

Is that a pump under your top tube or are you just happy to ride?

Put some LIT ultra-reflective sidewall tires on the commuter. They are indeed astoundingly reflective, from almost every angle. Ride really nice, too. I'm very very happy with them so far.
