Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I'm back to bike commuting now, and I'm very happy about it. I decided to make my McLean my every-day bike, even though it's special and valuable. I might as well enjoy it. We use antique plates for dinner. If we didn't use them, what would we do with them?

Sounds awesome. I'm trying to figure out a good way to make a psuedo drink carrier for my Peugeot that has a nice wide basket type rack for when I make runs to get food and the such.
Pic related, it's my bicycle's butt. I think I can concoct some sort of wooden or cardboard rig to wedge into one of the sides of the basket. I've got some old tubes laying around that I can use as a rubber grip for the cup holder

New commuter! Finally upgrading from my old clunky heavy 90's Giant MTB. Just finished rebuilding this. Putting a rack on tomorrow.

sci guy, that's pretty HAWT! Love the splash of color on the bars. Lugged Raleigh frame looks really good, did you have it repainted? Fixed or Free?

thanks! I love how it turned out. It's not repainted - the frame is in exceptional shape. has a few paint/decal scrapes/chips, but overall, it's super bright and shiny. a little rust here and there too, but just a little and i'm rubbing it off. it was hanging in my grandparents garage for 20+ years. it's from the late 70s/early 80s (serial # is unreadable). its an 18 tooth freewheel. also my first single speed!

Here is mine I built it up from a regular mtn bike this is for running around on when not riding my recumbent and it is also gonna be used for this winter commuting back and fourth to work every once in a while I live 1.5 miles from work so not bad at all.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az2y...=youtube_gdata

My little project, 7700 DA STI's, drop bar conversion. Frame repainted, remaining decals masked off for that survivor look.

So you're keeping the suspension fork? For some reason I thought you'd said you were swapping it out for a rigid one.

What I did so far was buy some DA 7700 STI's new stem and bars, repaint the frame (masked off the decals), new cables and saddle, waiting on the right rack and fenders to come along at my Co-Op

@rekon i really like both of those bikes. I have a road bike have never commuted on it. I want to some day.
what size tires are on the Motobecane? I have a fantom CX and am wondering how wide of tires I could run.
either way it looks sharp... Did you remove the stickers?
I agree Sci Guy awesome rebuild. How do you like the bullhorn handlebars? I wish i could find an old steel frame to build up.

I wish I had ordered the 40cm instead of the 42cm, and I wish the reach from the bend to the ends where the brakes are was a little shorter. But otherwise I'm liking them. It's my first time using bullhorns, so I'm still getting used to it - just think I will replace them with a smaller version in the future.

Just added a bunch of stuff to my Trek 7100 for a bike tour. Now my bike is better equipped to commute so I plan to start commuting soon too.

I bought the Fantom CX used and the guy that owned it prior said when he ordered it from bikesdirect and that they messed up and sent it without decals. Looks a little plain to me but eh whatever...The tires are 40c. I contacted bikesdirect and they said 42c width will fit on the fantom. However I personally think 40c is the real threshold because my tires BARLEY have enough clearance!

Careful. I bought a Fantom CX frame from Bike Island with this knowledge and turns out those frames can only take about 35c. I was bummed.
