It looks so much nicer in pictures. Chained to the bike rack you get the feeling it will give you tetanus.

I finally have my pugsley up and running.
Specs: 22" Surly Pugsley, Shimano Alfine internal 8 speed hub, Kris Holm 29er rims, Schwalbe 29x2.4 Big Apples, Avid BB7s, OnOne Mary handlebars. Everything is in black. I call it Darth Pugsley.
Fenders and a few other accessories are on order.

I've changed a few things on my commuter/utility bike, so I figured I'd post it again. New rear rack, lights, wheels, fenders, seat, pedals, and tires.
Now I just need some bigger/better bags, and I'll be good.

Is there a "RATBYKE" thread? Y'all commuters' bikes are too nicey-nicey looking to be seen next to da ol FIshByke. Been riding and posting [1] for a while. There's a group at work that does occasional morning rides, so I'd drive into work and then ride my bike for a while. I have recently realized how silly that is, since I live in gorgeous Austin. Since I've got my older bike lying around, I decided to use it to go to work.

I posted my commuter earlier but have done some upgrades. The bike started as a standard Giant FCR 2. I added a light setup, and a rear rack with a trunk. I use the bike for rides to work, which is 12.5 miles from my home. One drawback, I found the bike to put me in a position that I became more of a wind trap then I did on the mountain bike I used before. Here she is as posted earlier.
I have added ergonomic down tubes with Tiagra brake/shifters. I also added an adjustable 120cm stem. All has worked out well except for the brakes, the bike came equipped with V-Brakes and the brake levers do not pull with the same geometry as the stock levers. I can still lock up the brakes on dry pavement but they feel a littlie spongy. I think I may add Travel agents to the brakes. The bike got a full set of cables and housings and clip less pedals also.

here's one of my commuters...
I had neglected this one for a bit and decided to whip walle into shape this weekend...
I adjusted the brakes, put a rear rack and basket on the back and put some lights on with a handlebar bag.

Great pictures keep appearing thansk for sharing, I was curious though, of all the cycle commuters any of them have a chain guard? Or just go with shorts everytime you ride? I have posted before but to keep in topic here it is once more, my Giant Rincon 21"

Yeah I can see how that would be annoying. As it stands my bicycle as you can see in the pic, well perhaps came with a chain guard and yet when I ride I am usually in shorts or roll up the leg. Whichever way works.

I usually bike to work in shorts and then change but there are times I don't want to be bothered...
I have found that even using a strap, I can get oil on my pant leg... I decided to make myself a gaiter
out of a pair of old sweat pants (the kind that have the elastic at the bottom of the leg. I cut the leg to
the size I wanted and I put that over my cuff and secure it with a leg strap...
its especially useful for when it gets colder...
