Too many places to fish. I would never make it to work. Humm, I would have to figure out how to carry an undetected fising pole on my commuter bike, I always have one in my car, just in case a fishing trip breaks out.

More Bike Pics
Well 1 month and a lot of money later, I got my commuter and all the gear! I finally feel like I am ready to do this for real!!!

And me with the bike, hopefully I will be skinnier sooner! Haha!
I also put some Gatorskins 700x25 on there. Rolls a lot nicer than the stock knobbies that came on it! Ok well thats all just thought I would post it on here.
Oh one last thing... I bought the Topeak MTX DXP Trunkbag w/ foldout panniers! Pretty awesome and TONS of room! Ok really, thats it. See ya!

Get the rain fly for the bag. Some REI's are starting to carry it if you have them in your area. Amazon has it as well.
My bike is outfitted almost Identical. MTX bag, SKS fenders, PB super flash LOL.
I actually like a traditional set of panniers in the winter. The fold out are handy but in the winter when you are having to carry a lot more and have a place to stuff a big jacket the MTX starts to show it limitation. Traditional panniers leave the top of the rack free if you need to carry something big so I find that I sometimes swap out the MTX for the Novara Commuters I picked up when I know I need more room.
Summer I love the MTX. Great for a quick stop at the store on the way home. Nice and compact with the panniers folded. The insulated area is great for getting lunch to work. Weekend rides I stick a half frozen water bottle in there with a sub and hit the trail. Break for lunch have a nice cool sandwich and cold drink.
The weight will come of. I lost 35lb since I started riding last year. Just got to stick with it and watch portion size on the meals. First couple weeks will make you feel like you were run over but after that you will feel better and better. If you stick with it it is a life change. It is physical and mental.

It's not much but it's mine and it gets me around. It's got new FORTE brakes, new adjustable stem, SCRAM MRX-Comp shifters, new SUNLITE rear rack, new taller aluminum handlebars, chrome spoke protector and a Brooks 67 sprung saddle.

My trusty new friend, 2008 Masi Speciale CX, only update since this pic is a brooks b17 honey/ standard saddle. I have a 20 mile roundtrip commute and this makes it an adventure instead of a headache.

Take the other's advice on water and portion control and the pounds will melt away, they've been dropping for me just by cycling to work. The plus for guys like us is we build legs strong enough to haul a fat guy on a bike, but when we slim down we still have powerhouse calves!
