Made another convert!

My first was one of my work cohorts Joe. He bought a Schwinn off me that I had bought to ride with the kids. It was too small for me but a good fit for him. He was riding a good bit after work and on weekend and was going to start doing a part bus part ride commute but ended up transferring to a different office. I think he lives closer to the new office and is planning to start commuting once the days get longer.

I had another bike I was flipping this month and mentioned it to another work cohort that I had a 1990 GT Outpost for sale last week. So he was really interested in seeing this bike when I mentioned it. Brought it to work one day when I drove at the beginning of the week. He instantly liked it as he had a GT BMX when he was a kid so liked the brand. Rode it around the parking lot and our Warehouse (20k) all day every chance he could. He was between checks but was really interested asked if I could hold it till Friday.

Today he got paid and asked if he could pay half this week and half next and we had a deal. The Bike was still in the back of my Suburban so I had my wife drive it up after lunch and deliver it. He was like a giddy kid on his birthday. He decided that he would ride the bike home (about 4 miles) and have his wife run him up to pick up the car later when she got home

I went up to the Thrift store near my house that gets a lot of bikes to see if anything worth picking up had come in and missed a call from him. Got home notice the voice mail and listened. He is about panting on the message telling me he made it and had a great ride but had the wobbly legs I told him he would have. He sounded BEAT! but at the same time stoked.

It will be fun to have two bikes parked in the lobby now. Going to go by Harbor and get him a vest as a gift this weekend. Told him to go hit the local REI and get a Blazer and Super flash for safety as soon as he had the cash.
