organizing
A coworker who biked for a monthlong commuter contest last year told me the hardest part was staying organized so she could grab her stuff and go on the days that she rode. For myself, I have found it, over time, pretty easy to get my stuff located.
Since our garage collapsed a few wks ago and the 2 remaining functioning bikes (mine and my 7 yr old's) have moved from the garage behind the house to the front porch, everything has gone to heck. The coat hook by the back door, the shelves for shoes and helmets, panniers and backpacks, all vacant. The front room around the front door, a huge sprawl of crap waiting to get gathered in varying amounts and thrown on the bikes or ourselves in the morning.
Then we come in the front door at the end of the day and all that stuff gets puked back through the front door landing wherever. It is crazy.

Just coming in from cutting and hauling wood on the tree that dropped over the driveway and the one that was hanging dangerously over the garage. Dang your's caved!
I'd suggest a couple of stackable totes. One for the pants and jackets, the other for layers 1 and 2. Best wishes Hardy.

FWIW, I use a small rolling wire rack with wire bins/drawers to hold my helmet, gloves, shoes, etc. The wire helps let air circulate and dry the items.
