Which SRAM to get?

I am going to put a Sram 10 spd 11-28t cassett to replace the 12-25 shimano on my Cross Check. I just know which one to get. I am looking at the og-1070 or og-1090. I was looking at the Rival and Red also. I just don't know which to get.

Get the 1070 cassette, the 1090 is their red cassette and as cool as it looks it just isn't as durable, especially for a cross bike.

As to red vs. force the only real reason to go to red is if you want to spend alot of money to save a little weight. The actual way the shifters function is all the same, they just use different materials throughout.

Personally I own a full force groupo and have ridden a red groupo plenty and they both function exactly the same. Seeing how you own a crosscheck your probably not a weight weenie anyways so thats another reason to aim towards force.

Hope this helps

I pulled the trigger on the 1070 11-28 and it's awesome. I don't think I need the a triple now.

If you find yourself needing even lower gearing, here's what I did for my Cross Check to turn it into a mountain brevet bike:

Replace 36t inner ring with 34t inner ring.
Replace 12-25 stock cassette with 11-32 PG970. That's right, the Tiagra mid-cage will handle that 32t cog like a champ with just a few minutes of farting around and adjusting the b-screw. Now my lowest gear is a 34/32.

Red has a shorter throw for shifting down.
