Ice Crash

We had a couple inches of snow Tuesday night. I am on night shift and on my ride late Wednesday afternoon everything was pretty clear except for one spot where the bike path goes under a highway overpass. There was about 30 feet of slush in the shade that had just frozen into rutted ice. I thought I could stay loose and get through it. Nope. Plum-sized rash and bruise on hip, two strawberries on knee, scrape on helmet that saved my head, and a sprained hand.

Another commuter stopped to help-didn't have much choice since I spread debris across the path-and said he had gone down twice in the same place. I am going to contact the Recreation District that maintains the path and pass the information along. I have found that these agencies are usually pretty responsive.
