16 miles RT on decent suburban/ country roads with no shoulder crossing 2 4-lane highways. On weekends I have to travel about 200 yards of one of them(construction gate closed on main course). Michelin Country Rocks(26x1.75) or Conti Ultrasports(700x25) depending on which bike I ride that day!

10-15 miles rt on generally good asphalt (though I can make it a lot worse if I want to ).
I run Marathon Supreme 35s if non-ice/snow, and Nokian 35s when just staying upright is the prime directive...

I live in the city and work for the city at four different locations in my 4-6 day work week.
All are within 2 to 4½ miles one-way. In the three-seasons I extend my commute as often and as far as practical. Usually 12-20 miles on the way in, and depending on how I feel, the same on the way home.
In the winter I ride Nokians in 700x35. In the three-seasons my primary bike rolls on Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase 700x28 and my other bike on 700x25 Ultra Gatorskins.
Both will need new rubber this year. I'm planning on the same sizes, but switching to the Continental Four-Seasons. We'll see when the time comes.

10 miles each way. All on road or path, usually decent conditions. Now 700x28, previously 700x38 (no flats at all), and 700x23 (about 6 flats in a couple months). Different bikes by the way, in case you're wondering.

10-12 r/t; unused sidewalk, so-so road, tiny connector trail with mud and roots, more road, then more road to office. 20" x 2" tires, folding Dahon Speed P8, full Fred gear!

8.5 miles each way. 60% paved highway, not too bad condition. 40% gravel which varies in condition on a weekly basis.
I ride in the summer on 700 x 18 road tread. In the winter i ride either my mtn bike with studs, or 700x32 knobbies.
usually fixed gear, unless it's the mtn bike.

4.5 miles each way. about 3 miles of that is a road with paved shoulder. The rest on country roads no shoulder 45 mph speed limit. I do take the the long way home a lot which is 5.9 miles. 700cx32 tires Bontrager race lite hardcase. No flats since I put those on in November. Lots of road kill to avoid for some reason, and lot of broken glass and odd Items like a striker for a welding torch, on the shoulders

Currently:
2.5- 3.5 one way, sometimes running errands before or after work.
Poorly paved city streets, snow, ice, packed dirt (unless wet) MUP.
Anything from 700x23 to 29 x 2.1, depending on whatever I grab. Current winter favorite is 700x40 oversized cross tires with fenders.

26*1.25 looks a little goofy on a mountain bike but it really is easier for me. As far as distance 2.5-5mi depending on how I feel. The roads are pretty good. I ocasionally have to leave the pavement ant they seem to do ok as long as there are'nt any huge bumps.
I am really careful about the side walks and holes. People look at me crazy when I have to carry the bike off the curbs. I don't really have any pot holes though and very slight avoidable gravel.

26 X 1.5 slicks on both my commuters- an early 90's mongrel Stumpjumper, and a brand new Marin Point Reyes . Only have one 700 wheel left in my bike collection, it's on the back of my Easy Racers long wheelbase recumbent. (That one may go too. I like the idea of having a swappable selection of rear wheels among my bikes).
Am thinking of picking up a set of 26" lightweight road wheels, set up for discs, for the Marin- if anyone makes such a thing.

Nice! I like the lines of the frame design. How's it ride?
I commute 22 miles round trip through the means streets of Oakland CA on an '07 Specialized Rockhopper running 26x1.5 Armadillos. I have Clydesdale tendencies, and the spindly 700x25's on my Sequoia are too scary with the pot-holes, cracks, glass, and shell casings.
The Armadillos are solid performers, but I run them at max PSI to prevent pinch flats. I just ordered a set of Panaracer RibMo tires (26x2.0) to see if I can run a little lower PSI for a better ride while still avoiding the snakebites.

22 miles RT on Schwalbe Big Apples (700x50)
22 miles RT.
I use Schwalbe Big Apples 700x50 tires on my commuter bike. Heavy (slower acceleration) but low rolling resistance. Love them! No more flats and ultra-comfortable. :-)
Sometimes I switch to my current project bike (former commuter) where I run 700x35 Schwalbe Marathon Racers or my CX bike with 700x25 Armadillos. I'm just slightly faster on these two sportier bikes to the point where a little bit of head or tailwind will make a much bigger difference. So, I usually find my way back to my commuter bike quickly.

32miles round trip. I'm currently rolling on Kenda K-Rads 26x2.3 on my new commuter. I love the tires, they look great and roll great. I am hoping to find some slicks that are at least 2.3's

9.5 miles each way, one big hill going in either direction, but aside from that, long gradual slopes the entire way there and back (it seems to alternate with the block). Some rough patches, but they're rather easily avoided. 2 miles on a major highway, 3 miles of in-town streets, 4.5ish country lane miles (older pavement). ATM, the commuter is running 700X38, but I want to go with 35's, and the Raleigh is running 700c tubulars. I take it out occasionally.

20 miles each way. Some road, some mup. 1 mile of incredibly horrible pothole and hazzard filled road. (Why is it the last bit before work is consistently the most unridable??) 700x28 Conti Gatorskins at 120 PSI.

5-10 miles each way. Sort of a Hilly City, so lots of pot holes and large dips but ultimately a way better ride than being in a car.
700x32 tires.

35mi r/t on 2-lane country roads.
Northeast--many potholes and frostheaves; also half the commute is on a numbered road with a wide shoulder... and lots of puncture-making debris.
700x28 Schwalbe Marathons on the uber-commuter. (When/if the Marathons wear out, they will be replaced by 32s)
27 x 1-1/4" Schwalbe Marathons on the commuter tandem.
26 x 1-1/2" no-name Kevlar belted slicks on the backup commuter.

20 miles, round trip
Suburban and city streets, all totaled, I'd give them a B+
700c X 35 on Chiron (my new LHT)

1 mile each way.
700cX32. I love the ride on those. I think 700x32 is just about the ideal combination of pliable/soft ride and predictable solid handling on a commuter bike.
