Larger frame bikes

I apologize if my question seams little off ...

For same odd reason I really like little larger bike than anyone recommend on the Net. I am 5.8 and my inseam is 30. Everywhere they say I should go for 19" bike but I loved my previous 21" old Sasquatch Norco. Now, I am about to buy my new commuter bike (probably Diamondback Insight 3 from Costco). They offer even larger 58cm bike. I think I will go for 53cm.

What will be an issue if person commutes on little over sized bike? Safety or stress on the spine or else ...
Thanks,
Z

You can correct for top tube length by swapping the stem. Your issue with a 30 inch inseam will be standover height. I'm 5'6" with a 29 inch inseam and my bikes are all 52cm. Two are standard geometry and one is semi-compact. On the standards, my crotch touches the top tube. On the other, it doesn't. A larger bike would be difficult, if not impossible, to straddle at stoplights.

I don't think a 58cm will fit you, but it all depends on the frameset.

Looks like frameset won't be an issue even on 58cm. I think I will go for 53cm.

Thanks again,

I was looking at those at Sports Authority the other day. They do look nice, but I don't remember its price being >$500, though. Make sure to shop around.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think it was the Insight 2 I was looking at.
