Hey all, I was thinking this morning about how much I love the look of utlegra 6600 series hubs (particularly with Open Pro's). Can't really explain it...they just make my heart beat a little faster like a pretty girl would. Maybe it is the sensibility of the whole package. I am a bit of a geek.

I also love the look of a butchered brooks b17. Oh, and the old Campy Delta Brake Calipers.

I only have a pic of the hubs, though. What about you folks? What bike parts make you feel like your climbing the rope in gym class?

Pretty much all the bikes at the North American Handmade Bike Convention. Never been to one, but the pictures sure are nice. Wow.

Kickstands wrapped in hemp twine. :D

And pretty much any part made by Vanilla, especially their custom polished/painted lugs....

I've gotta agree with you about the Ultegra hubs.

And the sound of them is as good as the look. I could just sit in my garage all day with the bike in the stand listening to the rear wheel spin.

I'm also quite taken with the Ultegra SL rear derailleur:

On the MTB side, I like the XT crankset and rear derailleur:

Of course, these things aren't in the same class as those Vanillas.

I like old Campy high-flange hubs, the sultry droop of track bars, filed Nervex lugs and flawless candy paint next to chromed or polished lugs.

There was a white CIOCC in the Italian Steel thread with high flange Campy hubs. Just gorgeous.

Basically any bike built by the boutique companies:

Vanilla (ESPECIALLY their touring bike...mmmmm), the older Rivendells, Shamrock, etc.

Barring that, a good set of downtube shifters, or perhaps the loud, hollow ticking of a cheaper freewheel (yeah, I know)

VolksDragon 03-03-09 02:52 PM

Wheels do it for me...nice split-spokes with some deep V rims...mmmm.

I installed the springs on the 96 Pro Flex mtb to complement the Magurra hydraulic brakes.

Aye, my '71 Crescent has them and they always get comments.

I hear that. I love the sound of one of my cheaper 7 speed freewheels. I am not even sure it is a shimano.

Wow, that Eirksen is beautiful!

Nice, and that is a lovely kaliadescope of tires you have hanging there!

Tires? Thanks sawtooth, When I see tires on sale I get them to try them out.
Green was for mud, tan was for rock and red was just for red..hybrid.
One car garage with a 4 bike tree.:)
