Giant FCR 1 08 vs Trek 7.5 Fx 08 vs Specialized Sirrus Elite 08??

Hi guys i'm looking for a fairly comfortable, fast bike which can go up hills, ride in the city and do some fairly short road trips. I won't be taking it off road but I don't want too harsh a ride. The reason I have not listed any true road bikes is that I don't want drops and i will mainly be using it to keep fit, some commuting and some routes.

Please vote! It would be so appreciated to get some feedback so I can make a descision.

Thanks a lot guys,

Daniel

No question about it, I'd go with the Trek.

Sirrus-
I don't like Sora, and think this bike is overpriced for what it is.

FCR1-
My number two choice. On the one hand, 105 RD is very good. generally component level is very good for the price range, and I've actually ridden the FCR1 (2008 model though) and really liked it. It was light and fast.

Trek-
I picked the 7.5FX as the winner because I am madly in love with Deore and LX components. I have them on all my bikes. I also like the wheels.

I think that even if these were all the same price, I would go for the Trek. The fact that it is the least expensive seals the deal for me and makes it the best value in the group as far as I'm concerned.

Hi guys

Thanks for your votes and replies. The Sirrus seems to be very popular but I'm not sure if this is due to familiarity or due to high-spec components. The Giant seems to have higher-end components and may be slightly more comfy and solid. I am leaning towards the FCR at the moment because the value is unmistakeably good. What would you guys say the main noticeable differences are between the FCR and the others? Ie. handling, speed, comfort, maintenance, factory default tyres etc? This will really help me decide. Thanks again guys!
Daniel

i would cast a vote for the Trek 7.5 and suggest you look at the Fuji Absolute series. For instance, the Absolute 2.0 has a carbon fiber fork and deore components, and weighs in at 24pounds. Bought a 2008 model for $450 late last year.

I've ridden a 7.5 FX for two years now. Great components, but for a clydesdale like me (250lbs) the wheels were too weak. I had to upgrade to 36 spoke wheels. The tires were great though. They lasted for about a year!

I'm not going to vote, but do have some perspective. I'm assuming you're in the UK (prices quoted in sterling)??? IF so, then you're actually comparing three somewhat different bikes, all pretty close in quality/price. The FCR (UK model) IS a road bike, simply with flat rather than drop bars. If priority is flat-out speed over decent roads, and quick handling -- that's the one (always, assuming you like it/it fits you). The Trek FX bikes are very different: long chainstays/wheelbase, slacker head angle, good and fast with stable handling, able to take much wider tires, even 'cross tires. If you foresee rougher roads and/or a bit of riding on unsealed surfaces, and (especially) doing any longer tours, the Trek might suit very well. The Sirrus: a little bit between the two. Probably slightly better tire clearance than the FCR, not so much as the Trek.
Best advice: ride all three as best you can simulating your 'typical' riding conditions/use, and pick the one YOU like best. As far as quality, I don't think you can go far wrong with any of 'em.

You should also consider warranty service as well, I couldn't get help from giant, not sure about the others.
