Giant SCR 1.5 vs Defy 2.5???

Hi guys, I'm in the process of deciding between a Giant SCR 1.5 2008 and a Giant Defy 2.5 2009.
The SCR is £519 and the Defy is £599.

Generally, it a bad thing to let others opinions pick bikes for you. It's second only to having others pick your girlfriend/wife/SO. The best thing you can do it go to a shop that has both bikes and test ride them both.

They seem pretty close. The Defy has a triple,the SCR's a double. Do you need the wider gear range of the triple? Also,Defys have mounts for fenders and a rear rack,don't know if the SCR's do or not.
