BTW: I don't ride Route 9 & Route 20 too much. I am working my way south across them & have to ride along them for just short stretches - really no way around it. But you reminded me of another kill zone - also I rode in yesterday and was reminded by the fear ...
There's a 2 lane left turn onto Route 9 by Dick's Sporting Goods. We get the green light the exact same time the opposing traffic gets a green light for their two lane left onto Route 9 in the opposite direction. Since I am in the right lane I ride in the opposite direction of their left lane just a foot or two away from cars bursting from their red light going in the opposite direction. It wouldn't take much like a sneeze or a spilled coffee then a twitch of the wheel and I'm buttered pavement toast with jelly oozing out from any available orifice. Oops - sorry if anyone is having breakfast now.

You often marvel at people who ride in winter weather, thinking it's unsafe...
...and you ride on Rte 9?? I'll cross Rte 9, but that's about it.
