Bad week of commuting
Anyone else just have a really bad week commuting on the bike?
The week started out with almost getting hit by a pickup truck (inches) and almost getting attacked by a really aggressive dog, to today having my wheel wobbling all over the place (to be discovered was a broken spoke after I got home) causing the brakes to rub, plus it was starting to snow pretty good on me. Did I mention that the commute home is ALL uphill where I do more than 1000' of climbing over 8 miles and it takes me an hour? This on a bike that weighs 35 lbs plus 15 lbs of gear. I'm definitely taking tomorrow off from riding the bike.
Does anyone else have bad weeks/days like this that just makes you want to give up?

Two H's!!! TWO!!!!!
It happens. Relax, take a day or two off and come back to it recharged. Nature likes balance, so after a bunch of annoyances and troubles you should come by some good luck.

Now, this uphill is NOT gonna go away. So you're lucky - you have a great excuse to buy a new bike! Most of us have to work really hard to try to produce reasons we need "just one more" bike.

The bad week that comes to mind was actually two days. One night while riding home, I had the passenger of a car reach out, grab my elbow and try and pull me down. The next night, in the same location, the passenger of a pickup truck shot me with a pellet gun. I was just hoping that the third time wouldn't be the charm. Fortunately, it wasn't.
And to give you a little perspective, you mean that your ride to work has a 1,000' drop in 8 miles? Sweet!!

Don't jinx me, it is a possibility here. I've had a few really close calls with deer.
Just to be clear, I'm not giving up. I just needed to vent a little.

Last year we had a cold snap that lasted 2 weeks and my commute was over 26 miles at the time. We had lots of snow that the salt turned into deep, rutted slush that froze solid like rock! This was my 6th winter car free and a good and fun one. I will never forget last winter and don't even want to talk about all that hapend.
