Very interesting to follow. Tops speed over 50 MPH on day two; now that's cooking.

I know. But it doesn't belong in the commuting forum. We've discussed this to death.

I'm guessing the 'Happy 50th Birthday to me' thread belongs in the 50+ forum and not the commuting forum but you posted to it also without saying it didn't belong here.

If you going to take it upon yourself to be the police, police them all.

Scwhwinnrider, your quote should be changed to "When I'm on this forum, it's like I'm 14 again, monitoring the middle-school hallways with a pocket full of detention slips".

Ligthen up, man. If it's not worth other commuters' time to view, they'll make that decision. I'm a commuter and thought it was great.

thanks for the posting Mulligan.

Thanks so much Bluedog6, I really appreciate that. I posted it in the Road forum and here thinking that commuters and cycling lovers in general would appreciate the mission he is on and would enjoy checking his site to see how he's getting along. It should be an interesting trip to watch; I only wish he was coming through Atlanta. Again, I thought it would be interesting to most of us that have a love for cycling.

No. The header was misleading. If he had posted. "Check out this fundraising tour" that would be one thing. But he labelled it as a commute-centric post and it wasn't. So your assertion doesn't fit. Nobody knew whether or not it was worth the time to view until they clicked the link.

It's right up there with the posts about "commuting to the Obama administration" and "commuting to the grocery store". Words have meanings. Wait, no. Those posts weren't intentionally deceiving. They were honest in their stupidity. Wrong, but honest.

The forums are broken up into specific genres for a reason. Otherwise there's anarchy.

Do YOU want a detention slip?

Give it a rest dude, come out of the hot sun, you seem to have a fever.

Having the thread here is no big deal. Even we commuters here can enjoy the video.

That minor celebrity with his entourage of groupies, cameras, and sag wagon are lacking the spirit of self-sustenance, and his motivation is not as innocent as it sounds. Check out the "Why is Phil Riding" page. He is doing the trip for numerous corporate sponsors. He is selling his own book. He is trying to promote cycling as a better way of transportation under "this economic climate", but he'd save gas money AND the environment if he'd just jump in his humongous trailer and drove across the country. However, I do commend his contribution to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and I'm glad he has chosen bicycle touring for his publicity stunt. Any publicity for bicycle touring is good publicity. I just feel that commercializing the activity is degrading to the achievements of the rest of the transcontinental cyclists.

This is a real bicycle tour.
