Recommended Work Stand and Brake Pads

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for bike work stands that are (1) not flimsy and (2) under $100-150. Secondly I remember reading some posts about a particular brand of brake pads that everyone uses and for the life of me cannot find any of the threads for the links. I just remember something about them being orange but I could be mistaken. If anyone could point me in the correct direction I would appreciate it.

I think you want Kool-Stop, all weather brake pads and they are "salmon" in color. Great pads!!!

I paid just around $100 for a work stand from performance bike. It's not rock solid but it's more than enough for my use. Thing like minor adjustments, tire changes and washing the bike.

I did have big plans for doing bike mechanics when I bought it, but I haven't done much yet besides the above.

A hundred bucks is a decent price.

Not sure which one capejohn purchased, but I also picked one up from Performance bike on sale for around $80.00. It holds my mountain bike, which is heavy, without a problem.

I purchased the Spin Doctor Team Work Stand.

I doubt you'll get any other recommendations other than Kool-Stop Salmons. They're regarded faily universally as the best.

You can mail-order a Park PCS-10 for under $150 shipped. PCS-9 is even cheaper.....dunno how that Spin Doctor compares. I'd go for the PCS-10 myself.....
