bicycle garage at Mass General hospital

These are not my pics but better than my cell phone did. Was there for my ex-wife's knee surgery, she broke her kneecap. Her knee injury kept me off my bike for 12 days. She'll be fine but I'm having a dammed time getting back up to speed. Only kidding. No wait - she will be fine.

Anyway this hospital has an outdoor garage for bicycles complete with a roof and turn-style. I guess it's for employees. It was quite large, maybe the size of 2 basketball courts?

That's great! (the bike garage)
That's terrible! (your wife's injury)

"Get well soon" - to your better half.

MGH has pretty decent cycle club. I have used the bike cage on occasion during the nineties.
I haven't seen the cage at Alewife T station. For some one like me it would be like a tourist
attraction if I ever pedal in that neck of the woods.

The Alewife cage must be new. I used to live out there a couple of years ago. Probably a good thing. Alewife is a pretty big bike hub, what with it being the terminus of both the red line and the Minuteman bike path.

What controls access to the cage at Alewife?

(and who uses it? whatever direction you're going in, why not just keep on riding?)

I think I read that you have to get some kind of pass to get into the bike cage at Alewife. I got the impression that it was free and easy to get from the people that work there, you just have to ask. I haven't tried to get one tho.

I work at Mass General and park in the bike cage every day. It's great!

You do need to be an employee to get access. There are non-caged bike racks for non-employees.
